Ravens, Baby!

So I guess this is my first post of the new year! I apologize for that, but holy MOLY has January been a busy month! A lot of great things have happened to me this month. Interviewed for some jobs, received some offers, NEGOTIATED ONE, and then accepted it! Started seeing a very cute, very sweet weightlifter who studied elementary education. I’m sorry, is there a more attractive combination than that? AND most importantly, THE RAVENS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL! So for me, Baltimore’s tradition of “Purple Friday” has become “Purple All Day, Err Day.”

Dyed my hair purple:

Dyed my dog purple:

And my nails have been nothing but purple all month. They were even purple when I went to my interview for the job I accepted!

Probably the most colorful nails I ever wore to an interview.<

This was also the first interview I went to where I brought up this blog at all. I never knew what to tell people about my hobbies, but a friend of mine (gainfully employed as a software engineer) said it was totally okay to talk about this blog in an interview. I always thought it sounded too frivolous, and I was afraid I wouldn’t be taken seriously, so it’s cool to know I can be me, and still get a rather serious job.

I even showed them to my future boss in the interview! (She asked)

I’m not a huge fan of these next nails. They looked good…until I added the rhinestones. They broke the look.

That purple is great though. It’s the same purple I that I used for stamping in the last manicure. One of the Revlon Fast Dry line. It’s called like, grape or something. Oh, speaking of Revlon, did you know Revlon was first founded as a nail polish company? And that most of the technological nail-breakthroughs have been made by them? Like fast dry polishes.

Now this next manicure, I feel like it is what I would have designed to wear as a fairy princess when I was 7. Seeing these nails made some of my least classically “girly” friends coo over all the glitter. I was going to do glitter tips originally, but it was a little too mellow for how I was feeling at the moment.

Lucky it was a sunny day, right?

I have to say, I LOVE this idea of a sort of twisted french manicure glitter thing. I don’t think I’ve seen this trending anywhere, and it’s just such a natural pairing, given the issues most glitter polishes have with opacity. This way, you’re no longer fighting nature, you WANT to see the natural nail underneath! It needs a better title though, so if you have any ideas, let me know.

My attempt at showing off the glitter. I need to get a book about macro photography or something; I literally have no idea what I am doing.

And last but not least, a magnetic polish was on sale at Sally’s so I bought it in purple. Magnetic polish? Freaking cool! But difficult to get the designs sharper. I guess you’d need to hold the magnet in place until the polish had dried most of the way.

So cool! I want to know how the science works

Look forward to more purple nails this week! I also will have a post up about my new storage system for my polishes and a post about my new photo-light box soon!
